a bit about me

Tay Rae (formerly known as Tay’s Wraps) is a one-woman show owned and operated by me, Taylor Hitchen! Three things have stayed constant throughout my life: my love for rocks, my creativity, and my constant need to craft & keep my hands busy. All these factors came together beautifully in the summer of 2019, and my little business was born. Four years later, I’ve evolved from crystals & wire wrapping to rockhounding, finding my own gems, mining, cabbing, faceting, creating luxury jewelry and engagement rings, teaching courses on what I do, and so much more!

As of 2023, I decided to shift my focus mainly toward working with US mined, cut-by-me gems. My goal is to create as many beautiful, ethical, 100% natural gems as I possibly can, and to educate the public in the process! Mother Nature did it best creating these gems, and all I strive to do is capture the beauty that’s already there. Being able to share my love for these stones with the world is just an awesome bonus! I could not be more grateful that I get to call my lifelong passion my job, and I absolutely cannot wait to see what comes next for me and my little business <3

Faqs

Q: Can I send you one of my gems to have faceted?

A: Not yet! I am still very new at my craft, and I am not comfortable working with gems that don’t belong to me, that I’m not familiar with, and that I can’t assess in person first.

Q: Are there any exceptions to that?

A: Possibly! I might be willing to work with rubies & sapphires from North Carolina or Montana since that’s the material I’m most familiar with. I would also be interested in exchanging a facet or two for some more rough material if you have a stash laying around.

Q: Do you buy gems from other rockhounds/collectors?

A: Yes! I am always on the hunt for new gems – specifically North Carolina rubies & sapphires. I am also quite interested in higher quality US mined gems like garnet, aquamarine, peridot, beryl, and more. Send over some pictures if you have a collection you’d like to sell.

Q: Do you offer discounts on multiple pieces?

A: I’d be happy to! Send me a DM or email and I’d be happy to make you a deal.
